Hello y’all!
Welcome to chapter seven of Southern Gothic. Boy howdy, am I excited! Like more excited than usual. Why? Well this chapter follows Agent Grant and the gang to one of my favorite places on Earth: my hometown, Big Stone Gap, Virginia.
I’m so glad that the spookiest time of the year aligned with our story’s road trip into Central Appalachia. And get ready because I’m in the process of creating a special post to hype some of my favorite Appalachian locales, artists, and cultural sites for those of you interested in visiting or learning more about the region.
The Southern Gothic creative team loves receiving messages from you like WHOA. Please keep them coming! You can email us at thenewfuturists@gmail.com . Remember to include “Southern Gothic” in the subject and please indicate “OKAY TO PRINT” if you’re okay with your letter being included in a future edition of “The Purloined Letters.”
Oh and big news from Substack. The Substack app is now available for both Apple iOS and Android! I’m a big fan of the app for reading purposes, so I highly recommend you pound that button below.
Southern Gothic is a horror comic and is not suitable for all readers. Chapter seven features depictions of blood, gore, dismemberment, gun violence, and supernatural horror. Reader discretion is advised.

If you’re interested in joining Special Agent Grant in his investigation, consider a paid subscription. All sensitive documents are UNREDACTED below the paywall! And you’ll also get a sneak peek of chapter eight. See you in the funny papers!
