It’s the day of the show, y’all—
After two years and eighteen chapters, we’re closing the book on Southern Gothic. We hope you’re as excited to read today’s pulse-pounding finale as we are to share it with you!
As my willingness to open with a Parker Posey gif should imply, I’m a little overwhelmed.
This comic would not be possible without a host of folks. To all of our subscribers— especially our paid and Visionary supporters: you sustained this project and it would not exist without you. Thank you from the very center of my heart!
Major shout out to all of the artists who contributed covers along the way: Case Elledge, Vincent Cecil, Greg Van Dyke, and MJ Hiblen. And we’re thrilled to introduce the chapter 18 cover artist: Roasif (Rodrigo Marques)! Roasif is an independent queer artist from Brazil with a background in costume design and a wicked talent for illustration! Follow Roasif on social media and consider joining their Patreon, especially if you enjoy NSFW illustrations of superheroes and pop-culture mashups!
I’d also like to thank Jon Cochran for always being my first reader, Sarah Allen for her unflagging support, and all of the folks who have contributed to the care of my parents over the last two years.
The Southern Gothic creative team has been a joy to work with— from tip to tail. Reinhard Buhisan is a maestro of lettering: thank you for channeling my wordiness in productive directions! Rafael Grimaldi has provided color flats for all of our interior art and full color that made my scratches look halfway brilliant: thank you for sharing your talent!
And finally, everybody please give a HUGE cheer for Ezequiel Rubio! We did it, buddy! Y’all, Ezequiel is a real one. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I could make comics until the cows come home with this guy. Ezequiel, thank you for your creative vision, your patience, talent, and huge heart! Co-creating Southern Gothic with you has been a highlight of my creative life.
Now all that being said, stay tuned at the end of today’s feature for a glimpse of what’s coming next in the world of Southern Gothic!
We appreciate your joining us, gentle readers! Now buckle up. And please remember that Southern Gothic is a horror comic and is not suitable for all readers. Chapter eighteen features depictions of gun and knife violence, supernatural horror, blood, gore, racially sensitive language, harsh language, and physical violence. Reader discretion is advised.
Huzzah on a tale well told!
Congratulations Southern Gothic team! What a beautiful finale! Can't wait to see what comes next!!!
